Description
How do you tell the story of what is now known as Canada? Hearing the Algonquian origin story of the creation of Turtle Island as an adult immediately spoke to this artist’s spirit and her Ojibwe ancestry.
This original design represents the traditional economies before Canada, and the importance of our freshwater sources. The Métis symbol hovers above the prairie provinces, and the feather and inukshuk show the First Nations and Inuit lands across the country.
Design by Ojibwe Métis artist Angie Saltman.
