As a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, I cherish my Indigenous roots. My ancestry unfurls like a vibrant tapestry, interlacing strands from the diverse landscapes of America and Europe with my Métis and Indigenous identity.
It's a heritage that’s rooted in the intertwined Cree and Scottish lineages along the Red River. My journey is a commitment to decolonizing myself, revitalizing my family's culture and language, and living by my late granny's wise words: “Always carry your heritage with pride”.
We are grateful to the Elders and Knowledge Keepers who are with us today, and those who’ve gone before us.
